Heirloom Cherry Wood Spreaders for Big Dinners and Little Helpers
With big dinners and little helpers, we need nontoxic kitchen tools to keep up. Our obsession with wooden goods started with durability, but it quickly evolved into something deeper. Wooden spoons need to be well-conditioned to keep their heirloom quality, and we’ve found God’s fingerprint in the care and keeping of natural things in our home.
This wooden spreader measures about 8 inches from top to bottom, and each one has its own unique grain pattern. They are hand-carved in Pennsylvania by Jonathan’s Spoons and finished with Schneider Goods Co’s nontoxic Wood Wax. Use them for spreading peanut butter, scraping out jars, or serving charcuterie spreads.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wooden Spreaders (FAQs)
How to Care for a Wooden Spreader
Natural wood dries out over time and needs a conditioning agent to keep it soft. Most brands use mineral oils, but we prefer a blend of fractionated coconut oil and beeswax to add moisture back into the wood grain. You’ll want to condition your wood products about every two weeks, or anytime they look dry.
Can Wooden Spreaders Go in the Dishwasher?
Wooden spreaders ask for a little more intentional care than plastic dishes, so they shouldn’t be put in the dishwasher. But they’re easy to handwash in soapy water.
Are Wooden Spreaders Better Than Plastic?
Wooden spreaders are much more durable than plastic, and they don’t release microplastics and hormone disruptors into our food. They are generally considered much better options than plastic and are better for the earth and our communities. Wood is heat-resistant, has natural antibacterial properties, and adds beauty to your space.
What Can I Use a Wooden Spreader Knife For?
Place it on a charcuterie board to spread cheeses or jam, hand it to your child to butter their toast, or mix up the separation in a jar of peanut butter.
I bought every single one of Schneider Goods wooden utensils and love all of them! High quality at a great price! I will be buying more when they restock!
