This wooden french spatula measures about 12 inches from top to bottom. It’s available for right or left-handed chefs and has its own unique grain pattern. Each spatula is hand-carved in Pennsylvania by Jonathan’s Spoons and finished with Schneider Goods Co’s nontoxic Wood Wax. You’ll receive a small tin of Wood Wax with your product for maintenance.

The Ingredient Glossary

Cherry Wood

Cherry Wood

In woodworking, cherry wood is used for high-end products and adds a bright and cheerful presence to your space. Cherry blossoms and berries seem to infuse their joy directly into the wood, which is harvested in Pennsylvania.
Fractionated Coconut Oil

Fractionated Coconut Oil

We prefer virgin coconut oil for cooking or skincare, but it easily goes rancid. The fractionating process creates an odorless, flavorless, and highly shelf-stable product to restore wooden goods. It’s still a natural option and preferred to palm oils or chemical-based wood restoring agents.
Beeswax

Beeswax

Packed with nutrients, we really love beeswax for its holding power. It creates a soft, breathable barrier that keeps moisture in the skin. It helps with skin elasticity, cell health, and hydration, and it’s always our first choice for sensitive skin. We source our wax from pure honeycomb cappings, harvested at local apiaries practicing regenerative agriculture.

Your Use and Care Guide

Wash your cherry wood spatula with hot, soapy water. Let it dry completely. When stored, make sure it’s propped up to allow airflow. When your spatula starts to look dry, oil it with our nontoxic Wood Wax.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wooden Spatulas (FAQs)

Are Wooden Spatulas Good for Cast Iron?

Yes, wooden spatulas pair well with cast iron pans. This flat French Wooden Spatula provides a crisp edge for stirring food to make sure it doesn't stick to the bottom, with a width that's just right.

How to Care for a Wooden Spatula

Natural wood dries out over time and needs a conditioning agent to keep it soft. Most brands use mineral oils, but we prefer a blend of fractionated coconut oil and beeswax to add moisture back into the wood grain. You’ll want to condition your wood products about every two weeks, or anytime they look dry.

Can Wooden Spatulas Go in the Dishwasher?

Wooden spatulas ask for a little more intentional care than plastic dishes, so they shouldn’t be put in the dishwasher. But they’re easy to handwash in soapy water.

Are Wooden Spatulas Better Than Plastic?

Wooden spatulas are much more durable than plastic, and they don’t release microplastics and hormone disruptors into our food. They are generally considered much better options than plastic and are better for the earth and our communities. Wood is heat-resistant, has natural antibacterial properties, and adds beauty to your space.
