The Ingredient Glossary

100% Grass-Fed Tallow

100% Grass-Fed Tallow

Our cows are regeneratively raised, grass-fed, and grass-finished to encourage high fatty acid content before harvest. We use only suet fat and carefully dry render it at low temperatures to preserve the nutrient profile. Used in skincare for generations, tallow is a prized primal resource because it’s highly compatible with our skin.
Bakuchiol

Bakuchiol

In the skincare world, bakuchiol is most commonly known as a “retinol alternative.” It’s sourced from the seeds of the babchi plant and used in traditional Chinese medicine. Our bakuchiol comes from the only source that’s been clinically proven to have retinol-like results (like skin tightening and smoother fine lines and wrinkles).
Rosehip Seed Oil

Rosehip Seed Oil

Rosehip seeds help improve skin texture and elasticity while reducing the appearance of scars and fine lines. Since cold-pressed rosehips tend to go rancid quickly, we use an oil that’s extracted at low temperatures.
Pomegranate Seed Oil

Pomegranate Seed Oil

The pomegranate is an ancient symbol of beauty and royalty, so it makes sense that using it in skincare is a time-tested tradition. Pomegranate seed is rich in conjugated alpha-linolenic acid (also found in tallow) and punicic acid, which support healthy blood flow.
Castor Oil

Castor Oil

Native to the Mediterranean, castor oil is great for naturally glowing and resilient skin. Our oil is hexane-free and cold-pressed for higher levels of minerals and fatty acids (particularly, ricinoleic acid, a unique antioxidant that makes up 90% of castor oil). Since the oil is thick, we prefer mixing it with other skincare ingredients to tone down the sticky feel.
Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil

This plant-based oil closely mimics human sebum. Jojoba (pronounced huh-ho-bah) is lightweight, nutrient-dense, and highly absorbent. It helps balance the skin barrier and soothe disruption without feeling sticky. Ours is sourced from the Arizona desert.
Vitamin E Oil (Mixed Tocopherols)

Vitamin E Oil (Mixed Tocopherols)

A tried-and-true heritage skincare remedy, vitamin E is used to moisturize the skin, protect against sun damage, and soften scars and fine lines. Ours is derived from 100% non-GMO sunflower seeds, and we use it for the potent antioxidants, which also help extend the shelf life of the other oils.
Rosemary

Rosemary

Reach for this gentle garden herb anytime you need extra coziness and comfort. On the skin, it’s used for its natural antioxidant properties.
Lavender

Lavender

A calming herb, dried lavender can be placed under your pillow for better sleep. Use it to reset your nervous system, enhance collagen production in the skin, or to keep your babies calmly tucked in for the night.
Vanilla Beans

Vanilla Beans

Our vanilla bean is grade A and sourced from Madagascar. It’s mostly used to infuse a natural cupcake scent into skincare products, but it contains some antioxidants and B vitamins, too. We use the actual vanilla bean, so people who are sensitive to essential oils can still use the products.
Orange Peel

Orange Peel

We use it for its naturally bright scent, but it comes with added antioxidants, which can even the skin tone.
Lemon

Lemon

The peel is the most nutrient-dense part of the lemon, but it often goes to waste. An easy way to use those nutrients is with lemon peel extracts that scent our skincare products. Lemon peel is rich in bioactive compounds like flavonoids and limonene, which give us the tangy citrus scent.
Seabuckthorn

Seabuckthorn

Extracted from bright orange berries, you can see the carotenoids in seabuckthorn oil when you pour it into your hand. We use seabuckthorn oil for skin regeneration for people who want to soothe skin disruptions and fine lines.
Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate

Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate

In human terms, this is a natural vegetable glycerine that’s used to mix water and oil. We use it as a natural alternative to polysorbate, stearate, and other chemical emulsifiers.
Elderberry

Elderberry

Since elderberries grow in forest areas, it’s easy to mistake them for shrubs or weeds. These superfruit berries are local to the United States, and they’re full of nutrients that fight free radicals, calm inflammation, and tighten the skin.
Bergamot Peel

Bergamot Peel

Famously found along the coast of Italy, bergamot is a cross between a lemon and a bitter orange. The peel is yellow, but the flavor profile is bold and sweet, similar to oranges. We mainly use bergamot peel to naturally scent products and add an extra sprinkle of antioxidants.
Jojoba Beads

Jojoba Beads

Formed from a plant-based oil that melts beautifully into the skin, jojoba beads create a gentle exfoliation without microtears. This makes them effective for removing dead skin, but still safe for sensitive skin and gentle on the face.
Utra-Stable Vitamin C

Utra-Stable Vitamin C

For the skincare scientists, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate vitamin C is an ultra-stable form that’s not acidic. The goal is to get those potent antioxidants into the skin layers without oxidation or irritation. Vitamin C is known to reduce pigmentation, brighten skin, and protect cells.
Argan Oil

Argan Oil

Argan oil is rich in vitamins E, A, and carotenes, which give it a vibrant color. The nuts are picked, sorted, and crushed with a manual cold-pressing technique. It’s more labor-intensive, but this process preserves the nutrient and antioxidant profile.
Squalane

Squalane

You already have squalane in your skin. It’s a naturally occurring oil that helps seal in moisture and elasticity. Ours comes from non-GMO sugarcane.

Your Use and Care Guide

Start with a few drops of vitamin C serum on clean skin. Gently massage it into the skin barrier. If desired, finish with the bakuchiol facial tallow to lock in nutrients and moisture.

For the tallow face scrub, use it once or twice a week (depending on sensitivity) and then finish with vitamin C serum and bakuchiol tallow.

Your skincare set should be stored in a cool, dry environment. If your tallow or scrub melt, just put them in the refrigerator until they harden.

Frequently Asked Questions About Natural Skincare

Facial Skincare Set

What's the Best Natural Skincare Moisturizer?

We love tallow or jojoba oil for a natural skincare moisturizer. Both of these are highly absorbent and fairly compatible with the skin barrier. If you experience dry patches or flaking, make sure your skin is already damp, then lock in that moisture with your tallow skincare.

Is Vitamin C Serum Safe During Pregnancy?

Yes, a vitamin C serum with pure ingredients is considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding moms. It can even help with hyperpigmentation and other skin changes you may experience with hormone shifts.

When Should You Exfoliate Your Face in Your Skincare Routine?

Don’t exfoliate if you have skin barrier disruption, frequent burning, or cracked skin. Once your skin is healthy, begin by exfoliating the face just once a week. You may increase to 2–3 times per week as your skin adapts.

Can You Put Tallow on Your Face?

Yes, tallow is generally nourishing to sensitive skin and safe to use on your face. If it’s your first time using tallow skincare, start with a pea-sized amount (or less) and patch test.
