The Art of Bringing Light
Long before big lights and phone screens, there were beeswax candles. Candle making is an art form that once preserved evening read-alouds and game nights, and now beckons us back to softer bedtime rhythms. Spiritually, candles symbolize the light of the Resurrection, and the presence of God among us.
So many things that bees create have bountiful healing properties. Whether beeswax candles hold these same properties is yet to be discovered. But we do know they’re much safer than petroleum-derived products. Beeswax candles burn slower, are drip-resistant, hold a natural scent, and don’t release pollutants or chemicals. Use them to welcome cozy winter nights without overpowering synthetic scents.

Your Use and Care Guide
For an even burn, keep your candles away from drafts and vents, and allow the candle to melt well before putting it out. It’s best to trim the wick to 1/4th inch before each burn. Always keep candles in secure, heat-resistant candle holders and keep each candle about 3 inches apart when burning.

Meet the Makers
Danielle is a Catholic mom of six with a deep desire to serve the Lord with her family, home, and creative work. She and her husband, Vincent, have spent many years in foreign missions, working with the poor and sharing Jesus across India and Mexico. Beeswax candle making is a family activity, and the reward is extra candles during the cold days between Christmas and Lent. Each candle sale helps fund the family’s trip back to Northern Mexico, where they plan to do home visits, prayer meetings, work projects, and build a family culture around sharing Jesus.

Frequently Asked Questions About Beeswax Taper Candles (FAQs)
Do Beeswax Candles Purify the Air?
There’s a common thought that beeswax candles purify the air by emitting negative ions. This idea hasn’t been formally studied, so there’s no official evidence for it.
That said, our customers report feeling calmer around beeswax candles. Honey, propolis, bee venom, and other natural materials produced by bees all have bountiful healing properties. And beeswax as a whole is a much safer alternative to modern candles made from paraffin wax, synthetic fragrance, and dyes, which leak toxins into the air.
Do Beeswax Candles Drip?
Beeswax candles have a higher melt point than paraffin or soy candles, making them one of the most natural drip-resistant candles you can find. That said, any candle that’s exposed to the wrong environment will drip. It’s best to put your taper candles in a space with little airflow, trim the wicks before burning, and burn down to an even surface before putting them out.
Are Beeswax Candles Better Than Soy or Paraffin?
Paraffin wax is a crude oil byproduct, and soy is highly processed from hydrogenated oils. Both of these options produce a highly synthetic candle that’s further scented and dyed, leaving behind VOCs and chemicals when burned.
Pure beeswax candles are considered a much safer option for air quality. They burn at higher temperatures, so they produce fewer drips and have a longer burn time. Since they smell naturally sweet (like flowers and honey), they don’t need synthetic fragrances.
Are Beeswax Candles Non-Toxic?
Yes, pure beeswax candles are considered nontoxic as long as they don’t have additives like synthetic fragrance and dyes. For the best beeswax candle, find one that’s handmade with intentional sourcing. Look for organic labels and gentle processing methods that don’t strip the beeswax of color or nutrients.
