Postpartum Herbal Bath

Ingredients (all organic or wildcrafted): Calendula, lavender, plantain leaf, red raspberry leaf, shepherd's purse, St. John's wort, uva ursi leaf, yarrow.

Notes: This is not medical advice. Please check with your midwife or doctor before use, and do not use if you have allergies to any of the herbs included. Discontinue immediately if you notice any skin reactions.

For a tub bath, fill the included muslin bag with herbs, place it in a shallow bath, and enjoy!

You can also add about 1 cup of herbs (1/3 of the bag) to a medium pot of boiling water (2 quarts). Stir and simmer for 15-20 minutes, strain into a large bowl, and pour the tea into a shallow bath.

For a sitz bath, boil the herbs in the same way, strain into a pitcher, then mix with hot water (50/50) in sitz bath basin. Use within 2-3 days.

Also try mixing with witch hazel (75% tea, 25% witch hazel) in a peri bottle, or freezing tea in a pad or newborn diaper for a homemade padsicle.

Consult your midwife or doctor for recommended frequency of baths, especially if you have had a c-section. It is also important to keep the bathtub or sitz bath basin clean to avoid infection.
